a) If you have a RedHat 5.2 system which is working fine with a UDMA based
harddisk

b) and If you try using kernel 2.2.x

c) YOu do a fdisk and follow it by a mkfs which leads to a kernel panic. Then
in all likely hood this is the problem.

(Rather you can verify this problem even before doing the mkfs by calling fdisk
once again and checking to see the partition table entries are proper or not.
If its a UDMA problem then your partition table will have strange or crazy
values, Which in some cases appear to be valid but are not, this could be the
reason its panicing. ).

Well if this doesnot work then As with all kernel panics will have to look at
the OOPS message and try and identify the problem.
