I have a Yamaha sound card (my worst buy, till date) and I could get it to
work only with a 2.2 kernel. I doubt if you would manage to get it running
with a 2.0.x kernel.

I tried installation of Yamaha card on my Linux system but was not able to
successful by all configuration (IRQ,DMA) changes. Ultimatly I installed
standard Creative sound card which was detected automatically my linux & it
worked without any problems.
