Re: [LI] Sound Advice

| Too much in shell scripting Aditya? :) Could use "more $HOME/pnpdumpout"
(or
| better still, less :))
Addiction!!! comes with unix/linux i suppose

| Anyway, I found that it is a much better option to "warm boot" Linux
before
| running sndconfing. I have an OPTi 931 sound card and I do the following -
| 1. Keep loadlin.exe and the kernel in c:\loadlin
| 2. Boot into Win95 and hit F8 to boot into command line.
| 3. Run c:\loadlin <kernel>
to anyone who doesn't know exact command would be
loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hd??
where /dev/hda? specifies the disk where your linux is installed.
in my case /dev/hda5

both vmlinuz and loadlin are available on Chip CD or PCQ CD.
By the way thanks to all those who helped me in recovering Linux
after the MBR got overwritten by Win95 Installation.

| This takes me into Linux. After the first boot this way, I ran sndconfig
and
| it did its job. Since then, sound rocks!

Righto. :)

regards
Aditya
