Re: [LI] RedHat 6.1 slower than NT??

Friend,
It depends a lot on what all services you are running on your Linux Box. A
fresh Windoze box would always run faster then when it is loaded with
softwarez life Visual Studio etc. which then help in slowing down the
machine.

On a linux box there are some typical services which get loaded if you do a
default install and which slow down the system. U can cut down on these
things and see the performance.

Also the Kernel which u run by default is optimised for 386 which does not
typically use the full functions of your latest P-XX chips.

Try recompiling the kernel and U'll love the new system speed.
