Linux Learning Centre, the First Exclusive Linux Training School in India,
is conducting a 4-day crash course on the Linux OS starting on 20th
December 1999, at the Institute premises. Linux enthusiasts, Systems
Administrators on other OSs can use this opportunity for a quick migration
to the Linux OS.

Following are the topics covered in this intensive course:

* A brief overview of the history and evolution of Linux, it?s
capabilities. Concepts of GNU and the Free Software Foundation. Selecting a
Linux Distribution. * Preparing Your Hard Disk for dual boot installation.
Installation of Linux from a CD-ROM. * Installation and Configuration of
XFree86, X Window System and the various Window Managers. 
* Customizing Linux and X : Basic Linux configurations. * Basic Linux
Commands and Concepts : An introduction to the rudiments of
Linux for those who come from a DOS/Windows background. 
* Text Editors in Linux - Vi & Pico
* Basic System Administration : User Management & Application Management
* Adding and Upgrading Software : StarOffice - An Office Suite
* Linux Networking : TCP/IP - Networking up a small LAN.
* Basic Networking Concepts covering Telnet & FTP commands.
* Configuration of Samba Server - Connectivity between Windows and Linux
Machines
* Configuration of NFS - Network File System
* Setting up and configuring Mail Server
* Setting up and configuring Web Server (Apache) and Proxy Server (Squid).
* Setting up & configuring DNS & DHCP
* Setting up & configuring NIS
* Dialup Connectivity to Internet.

The course material covering the above topics will be given at the end of
the course. The course duration is 6 hours a day for 4 days (20th to 23rd
Dec).
The course fee is Rs. 3600/- which includes coffee, snacks & working lunch
on all 4 days.
Accomodation can be arranged for outstation candidates at extra cost.
A LLC Certificate will be given at the end of the course.
