According to Alan Cox - that was a kid from Norway (Derek something).
But he was threatened legally and has since then shutdown his website. But
the code is already widely distributed.

What this means is - you can play the existing DVDs in the market. But
it would be illegal in most parts of the world. Japanese companies are
delaying the release of their products to plug the problem.

But some of the problems with any such encryption are fundamental. If you
can decrypt to see the movie in software, you can do the same thing to
make a copy of it too :)
