How? Note that ttyS0 is COM1 and its case sensitive and so on and so
forth - many many complications - for the bare newbie , i would say go
search "wvdial" on http://freshmeat.net/ - download the latest rpm |
tarball and install it - run wvdialconf - it would scan for and detect
modems AND set the required initialisation strings etc - man wvdial , man
wvdialconf help you setup for muted dialing , tone/pulse dialing , using
multiple isp , multiple phone number options etc etc - *highly*
configurable , no X required - neatly runs off a commandline
IIRC its available somewhere in the PCQ november issue CD ... under
/goodies or something ... search around - use grep , and also , do a man
wget - useful for downloading
wget -c http://foo.bar/baz.rpm is a cool ass way to download stuff...
check it all out.... and good luck with your internet thingie.
