Re: [LI] Bare Bones Linux

Well, long back (2 years back) in quest to learn a few things about linux, I
tried following,

1. Formatted a small hard disk of 260 Mb using existing RH5.2 and made ext2
file system.
2. Copied standard kernel to boot directory.
3. Made all the directories /etc, /dev /bin etc.
4. Copied all the rc files.
5. And finally booted with loadlin.
It was booting to some extend, but all the while complaining about missing
files. But finally my patience ran out and I left it there only. As the
entire experiment was done about 2 years back, I might have missed some
thing.

You can use single floppy linux, many of them make file system in dos, for
your research.
Finally I will be interested in your distribution (err!!! shall i say
how-to) of sidux.
