Solution to your first problem

First of all get BOOTPART (just about 50Kb) from http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm. With BOOTPART, you can add any partition to the WinNT boot menu. You can add Win98 or Linux Partitions (with Lilo) to the menu. It can also repair the WinNT bootloader. Also read the page and associated documentation well.

Then follow the steps below:

1) Boot to Linux using lilo (from hard disk). Create a NEW bootdisk using
'mkbootdisk 2.2.12-20'. The number is the version of the kernel. If you
are have installed RH 6.1 from PCQ CD then it should be 2.2.12-20. Refer to
'man mkbootdisk' for exact (and more) option(s).
2) Make sure that the new bootdisk works.
3) Remove lilo from mbr. Boot to DOS prompt and issue the command 'fdisk /mbr'.
4) Boot to linux using bootdisk and install lilo on the Linux partition (not
in MBR). You can do this easily using 'linuxconf'. Go to X and type 'linuxconf'. (Even though you can use it from text mode, the GUI interface is more comfortable.)
5) Boot to DOS prompt and use BOOTPART to repair the NT bootloader. (I dont
remember the exact syntax). Reboot and test that NT/Win98 can be booted thru the NT bootloader.
6) Create the (512 byte) bootsector file for linux partition using bootpart.
It will also a make it's entry in the NT's boot.ini. You may edit the file for changing the default OS and the timeout. (First unhide it using the DOS
'attrib -h -s -r boot.ini' command).
7) Reboot. Now you should be able to boot to all the three OSs with NT bootloader.

Solution to second problem

1) Backup the /etc/X11/XF86Config.
2) Edit it and goto 'Screen Section'. Below this there will be multiple
'Subsections' called 'Display', and under this will be option(s) called
Mode, where the (different) resolution(s) will be displayed. Delete the
resolutions you dont want (eg. "1024x768") from ALL the Display subsections.
3) Save the file and restart the X server.

Read the Linux documentation. It is available in the CD from where you have
installed Linux. There are FAQs and HOWTOs for most of the problems one may face.
