Well I am also facing problems, since I wanted to run asp on my apache, i
tried
manual patching of the RHL5.2 with apps from this using the package tool in
the
X-control panel. but was confronted with a lot of missing dependencies,
libxxxx
etc. So thought of upgrading the 5.2 to 6.1, and chose the upgrade option,
and it
went upto the message where it says
    "Checking packages to upgrade"

then a kernel panic and hell lot of junk comes on the screen, a three finger
salute will
shutdown gracefully and bring me back to the lilo prompt. well i tried
seven times (different
times of the day), all ended up the same way.

Mine too is the same processor, hdd 4.3 split to 2/1/1.3 as C:/D: and linux
(the last 1.3 has the 64MB swap too) vga is an S3 4MB, creative sound,
NE2000 ide and a 33.6 GVC.

seems that i am stuck with 5.2, no i am not dissatisfied, it is enough for
me, since it has
atleast started to recognize php3 scripting, after last nights turmoil.

a printing mistake(or version conflict) in the PCQ Nov-99 page 162 about the
hello world program,
made me mad, as i was getting a parse error in the php script.

sorry for the off topic
