Re: [LI] Downgrading pppd & lpd?? - Atul

Hi Jeffrey,

I think the kernel has the printer stuff as a module. My /etc/conf.modules
file has the first line reading "alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc"
(without the quotes).

I too had done a fresh install of RH6.1 and found that the lp devices were
not available whereas this problem did not exist in RH6.0. So I
re-installed RH6.0, saved the conf.modules file, re-installed RH6.1 and
found this line missing. I added this line, rebooted and the printer device
was recognised in RH6.1, and it shows up in 'printtool'. Haven't been able
to print anything as the printer is on the blink.

Hope this helps.
