Re: Installing RedHat 5.2 // kunal // *** solved ***

hi kunal

i am a systems administrator and our network is running completely on linux
servers.

recently i was replacing the old pentium-60 based datamini computers with
new celeron based ones.

Suddenly idea struck to me that the old compu with b&w monitors can be used
as linux servers for routing and internal mailserver etc. thereby shedding
the load off the main HP NetServer running apache/linux based web server
with a host of web applications on it.

Now the same problem of ***** hanging while formatting the hard disk
partition ****** occured. At first i though it might be a problem with PCQ
CD I had but i checked on other computers and it was fine. Some even said
PCQ distro was flawed.

Finally the problem was solved by using another motherboard with same hard
disk, display card, network card and ram. Since I had 200+ computers at my
disposal so experimenting late night was no problem for me.Thus I checked
with different configurations of h/w and found the motherboard faulty,
changoing the motherboard solved the problem. ******** point to be noted
that same motherboard ran windows 95/98 very smoothly and without any
problem **** could somebody tell the reason for it.
