KDE Architecture - Question.

Hi all,

     Is KDE an implimentation of X-Windowing system.
WHat i mean is,  Does it follow the Server/Client
system of X.

     MS Windows employes the messaging system to
notify different events, is this available in X or in
particular KDE?

     I am not sure if i am carrying myself clearly. 

     In terms of programming model , what is the
difference between programming in KDE & MS Windows.
Please take only one programming language like C++ for
example.

     Also, any pointers on the services provided by
Linux kernel itself for GUI development, assuming
there is no X or KDE r anything else.
