Ahem, "flamewar"???? Please, call it by its correct name - which is
"personal vendetta".

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. What you are
effectively saying is "banning someone for willfully and repeatedly
breaking the rules should not set a precedent", meaning that rules are no
guideline on this list, and *every* personal vendetta war will be allowed
to reach such shameful levels before the rules will even kick in to allow
"possible action".

Why do I feel this is so wrong?

This whole mess could have been avoided if action would have been taken
when it was needed, not after the street is littered with corpses. That
should have included banning you, me **and** the "gentleman" from Cochin -
nevermind who was right or who was wrong.
