How to get inet up on linux

Hello,
    I use RH 6.1 .. When I dial with RH PPP dialer to
mantra online(My ISP provider) and connect to i-net I
get a Monitoring box (a black box) after
authetification........
But Netscape give an error no network
connection(socket error....)when i try to access any
web page.
Even telnet ,ping, ftp don't work. 

I do not have any default gateway setup.

Help me To access internet from linux.
