kernel 2.4.2 , compile problem

Hi !
   Friends, I upgraded kernel from 2.2.24 to 2.4.2 without any problem... working fine. But now when i try to compile some src rpm e.g proftpd-1.2.1-2.src.rpm and qmai*tar.gz (make setup check etc) it gives the same probelm ...

But when i boots from old kernel 2.2.14 it compiles without any problem.
Please tell where i am wrong ??
