2. my mail clients will be accessing mails only through pop and smtp for

receiving and sending mails.     for every mail user is it mandatory to
create a linux user? i actually have about 350 users using         mails

my domain(proposed) that would mean i have to create 350 linux users and

their             home directories i have to create a Maildir. is there

way by which i can overcome this?


You can go for single user id option. There are a number of POP3
authentication modules available for qmail, one of such authentication
modules is vpopmail (http://www.inter7.com - distributed under GPL)
which needs only one user  in /etc/passwd (User: vpopmail Group: vchkpw)
