reading the frame buffer

dear friends 

i want to read frame buffer at certain instance so i have two questions
regarding this 

1. from where i can read ( if /proc then from which spesific file) ??

2. What is the fromat ( hopefully it should be bit by bit but may be 
                         different any comments ) ...?
