on my box at least - 

$ ssh2 -l suresh foobar.com
Executing /usr/bin/ssh1 for ssh1 compatiblity

The same with TeraTerm Pro (with ssh plugin enabled) - download from
http://www.hobbiton.org (oh hell, Subb has it already)

... so no hassles ;)  The protocol is autodetected, and whatever fits will
be chosen, automatically.
