 Try putting 'options' and 'password=' in /etc/lilo.conf. The idea is
whenever you pass parameters to LILO it asks for the password specified in
/etc/lilo.conf. So put a password there, run LILO to update LILO and
restore original lilo.conf. This is because /etc/lilo.conf is read only
file for normal user and so anybody can read the password if left open.

'man lilo' will give you exact syntax.
