Thanks for the help.
There is a nice KDE frontend called Kwvdial developed by
patrick patterson. I was trying to connect using that. I contacted
the author and he gave me the solution ( same as what you
have mentioned ).
I created /etc/ppp/peers/wvdial file and entered the following
name wvdial
(noauth is not required in my case).
If you install Kwvdial, there is not need to install wvdial separatly.
Kwvdial is a nice front end. If somebody is interested then it is
available in RPM format at
http://www.cnss.ca/~ppatters/KWvDial.html
I got the sources of Kwvdial at freshmeat.com
