Re: [LI] S3 Trio/Samtron 45Bn problem

Hi!!

What a coincidence! I configured the same card for my teacher today. What
you have to do is get the new XFree86 packages. These are a part of the
Redhat 6.1 package (version 3.3.5)

You'll need to upgrade XFree86-SVGA and XFree86 packages. The latter is
required for the new xf86config and SuperProbe. You can then select the S3
Trio3D card (S3 Trio3D/2X) is not listed and then change all references of
S3 Trio3D in /etc/X11/XF86Config to S3 Trio3D/2X. Also, you'll have to put
in
Option "noaccel"
in the Device section of the file.

After all this fiddling around, I got 8/16/24/32 bit colours, without
graphics acceleration. But then, you may not have to work so hard if a newer
X server is available.

Akshat
