[LI] Large disk partitioning woes

hello all
I'm Ganesh and i just joined the list today.
i have a cyrix M-II 300 with a 17 gb hard drive and want to partition it for 6.5 gb win-95/98 and the rest for Linux. i'm having a lot of problems with the partitioning part. to save time and efforts, i must notify in advance that i have tried the /boot partition of 15 mb size for the mbr for lilo to reside in the under 1024 cylinder area. but it was giving me problems, like if i tried to use win explorer, my machine would hang because windows would get confused as to what that 15 mb drive was as it was being seen in the dos fdisk as a dos partition, but had linux filesystem perhaps. also disk druid and linux fdisk were unable to make the linux partitions after i made the windows partitions first with dos fdisk.
help required urgently
TIA
Ganesh
