Re: [LI] GNU tar-1.11.8 - y2k !?

Check out the latest version of tar at
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/tar/tar-1.13.tar.gz
It's about 1MB in size. It has a fix for the Y2K problem. As the source
says,
XPG4 suggests that years 00-68 map to 2000-2068, and
  years 69-99 map to 1969-1999.
So, its not a perfect fix, but not many guys will want pre-1968 dates.

BTW, this talk about Solaris/Unix bugs is not even valid. The bug is
in GNU tar, and not in Linux/Solaris. You would be using the same
buggy program even if you were using Linux. We should be thankful
that Gopi warned us of this bug.
