The 1000 in the message id is a bug in PINE - but a harmless one.  The
message id can be anything you want - it's for people to identify that
mail from all other mails (each mesg id is unique).  For ex, you can
search for newsgroup posts by mesg id in Deja.com

If you want to send mails with mesg id <you.stupid.idiot.1@xxxxxxxx> ,
<you.stupid.idiot.2@xxxxxxxx> etc etc (or whatever - as long as each is
unique) you are perfectly free to do it (without any hassles)
