can you ping localhost. Is the 192.somthing address set on your ethernet card ?

do a netstat -a | grep LISTEN you should see httpd in the list
if the above is true try http://localhost you shoud see your default file
served by apache. if this does not work then your box is not configured properly
Are you getting a host not found error from netscape or is it a HTTP error from
the webserver
