    Try this - hit 'linux single' without the 's when you get to the LILO
boot: prompt ... and as root , run e2fsck on /dev/hda . It should ask half
a million questions with y/n replies - answer y to all of them - your
drive *should* be functional again.
    Note that there is no warranty/guarantee implied/stated . IF your
drive fizzles out - hard luck. This is a method that I've used succesfully
many times over for your problem.
