And then I installed this from the disks ( root and boot )
which I downloaded from

So , I suppose it should not be 2.2 but 2.2.1 ;-)
So, I am partly correct and a little bit wrong . ;-)

And this is what my apt-get dist-upgrade shows

avenger:~# apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Calculating Upgrade... Done
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

So, that means I am on the *bleeeeeeeeeeeeding edge* ;-)

2.3.31 is pretty stable with me cause I get my Ethernet Drive along
with this and the bleeding edge excitement also. ;-)

And the chances of it being named potato are 75 % ( from the login prompt )

And lastly I wouldn't care about the naming and numbering as long as
I am on the bleeding edge.

  Hey Khader : Potato is not yet officially released , meaning the freeze
is only mid january 2000 - it has hence only a codename 'Potato' , but no
version number. It could be debian 2.2 , it could be debian 13.56 or it
could be debian 100.0  - i maybe wrong about who chooses the version
number and/or how its chosen , but i'm *sure* potato does *not* have a
version number...
  Therefore I dont think its right to call it 2.2 , but just Potato.
  It could go like slack , 3.x -> 4.0 -> 4.1 -> 7.0 - IIRC
  :)
  and hey, kernel 2.3.31 - what gives ? did you use apt for the upgrade ?
