[LI] postmaster & email aliases

Hi Guys,

In Postmaster (windows) we can create Email aliases. 
For Ex. :
         if my pop account is rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

then using postmaster I can give different email aliases like :
        santosh <rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
        santoshi<rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> etc.

Like this using one POP account I can create many email aliases and
the email can be sent instead of rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to say
santosh<rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> etc. This is possible under postmaster.

I am surprised how email address of the format santosh<rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
is accepted by email server because only rajesh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is present on
the server but there is no account of Santosh and Santoshi.

Is the above thing possible under linux ?.
