I want to report that my experiments with UDMA66 on Linux has been very
successful (except for occasional rattling of my box under heavy hard disk
spinnage). I took a virgin 2.2.13 kernel and patched it with the IDE patch
available at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/.
Compiled the kernel with UDMA66 support, ran the MAKEDEV that comes with
the patch to create the appropriate /dev/ devices like hdeX, hdfX etc.
rebooted and was able to fdisk, format and mount the UDMA66 HDD.

One interesting thing was hdparam tells me that that UDMA66 disk was faster
to access than my Ultra Wide SCSI disk.
