[LI] Missing module
Hi,
Here's what happened when I tried to give the following command:
echo "hello world" > /dev/lp0
The system gave an error, "/dev/lp0: device not found"
Also the /var/log/messages file contained the following lines:
Nov 23 10:14:38 localhost modprobe: can't locate module
parport_lowlevel
Nov 23 10:14:39 localhost modprobe: can't locate module
parport_lowlevel
Nov 23 10:14:39 localhost kernel: lp: driver loaded but no devices
found
This seems to be the reason why my printer is not autodetected by
printtool.
Please help!!!
I am using kernel 2.2 with RHL6.1 ... I found the following files in the
/lib/modules/kernel-2.2.12-2/misc/ directory:
parport.o
parport_pc.o
parport_probe.o
The kernel rpm's are alright, which I verified using "rpm-V"
Sameer.
