[LI] PPPD problems over - need more info

Hi,

After an extensive readup of the manpage, I tried putting the
"noauth" option in the /etc/pppd/options file. And wonder of
wonders, it actually worked!

Here are the two manpage entries:

auth
Require the peer to authenticate itself before allowing network
packets to be sent or received. This option is the default if the
system has a default route. If neither this option nor the
noauth option is specified, pppd will only allow the peer to use
IP addresses to which the system does not already have a route.

noauth
Do not require the peer to authenticate itself. This option is
privileged.

What is all this "route" business in the "auth" entry?
What is a "priviledged" option?

And one more - how do I set up pppd to be accessible to the
general users?

Sameer.
