Dear vicky,
	Looks like you need to change the softlink from /dev/modem to
ttyS3 (not ssty3)
Log in as root and type 
$ ln -sf  /dev/ttyS3 /dev/modem

Try KPPP or Xisp as your dialer.

Install the switchdesk rpm and run switchdesk
