valid point - but Wine, started from the Linux partition of a hard disk
bearing both Windows and Linux is capable of running the Windows
application within its original installation directory. AFAIK Vmware (not
sure if this works better) needs Windows to be installed in the Linux
partition, and this might mean two installations of M$ bloatware on a given
hard disk. (Sounds baaaaaad for the poor hard disk ;-)

As a continuation of your question, I wonder if it is possible to uninstall
Windows and then see if Wine still runs apps.
