what seems is like a wrong modem conf problem, check to see if modem is in com1
( it will usally be in com 2 ) and see if /dev/modem is linked to /dev/ttyS2
... if that is the case then through kppp use /dev/modem instead of /dev/ttyS1.

hope this solves ur problem

Windows 95 is a 32 bit extension
for a 16 bit OS
originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor
by a 2 bit company
that cant stand 1 bit of competition.
