Hello there,

Well that was a good question you asked. ( Are there any GUI's ??)
As a matter of fact, Linux does not have a single GUI. You can choose
from among 15 types of GUI's ( Major ones ). So, it  is your choice
to choose whether you want a lighter GUI or a heavy GUI or a fancy GUI
 or a less cluttered GUI or a plain GUI wihout any icons ( of course
there will be the menu ). 
This is just to reiterate that Linux is about Choice.
Choose the GUI which suits you and have fun and work.
