Re: [LI] help with plugins

Yes, I have visited webdunia.com and there are quite a few websites which
are
using dynamic fonts (for bengali you can visit bengali.org) The trick behind
all
these are a couple of lines as follows in <HEAD></HEAD> section:
<link rel="FONTDEF" src="http://www.webdunia.com/eotpfr/Webdunia.pfr";>
<link rel="FONTDEF" src="http://www.webdunia.com/eotpfr/Webdunia_Bold.pfr";>

Here the PFR files contain all the information of dynamic fonts. If you hit
about: in netscape (or HELP -> ABOUT) then you will get a page which talks
more about dynamic fonts and bitstream.com You can find more info from
there.

I can give you links to tools which can generate PFR files but I would not
recommend using these proprietary technologies. A better option would be to
use UTF8 encoded text with ISO646-1 fonts like UNIFONT and try to persuade
everybody to move to ISO standard fonts.

UNIFONT is a worldwide effort to get all the glyphs of Unicode under GPL
license in the lines of cyberbit.ttf from bitstream. [link

Currently it has devnagri fonts donated by Sandeep Sibal et.al. of the
famous
ITRANS fame. [link http://www.aczone.com ]

Have u ever visited www.webdunia.com? It is a web portal site in
Hindi language & Devnagri and may be using DYNAMIC FONTS.
Very easy to browse and display very well in all latest browsers. I
was little bit confused, when I first visited this site. Your hints about
DYNAMIC FONTS give me some clue.

Tell me more about DYNAMIC FONTS or suggest some links to
find more information. I am also interested in web designing in
Indian languages.
