[LI] About SIS 6215 cards.. simpler way that worked for me.

Hi,

Just thought I would let you know.

I DIDN'T download xsis.rpm.

Just installed xsuseconfig.tgz that 'sis' page on 'Linux-India' site
says. That updated (actually downgraded, since my orginal cards databse
had SC6C215 card in the database though it didn't work) the cards
database.

Then ran "xf86config" selected SIS '201' based card from cards list.
Answered "yes" to virtual screen since my card just has 2Meg.

Then ren "XF86Setup". There I selected SC201 based card which means
SVGA X server. And then under chipset selected "SC6C215". (I could be
wrong about SC etc. but rest is correct way). Then it got me 16bpp
depth on 1600x... virtual screen.

This depth and (richness)feel of colors if far better than when the same
machine had NT on it.
