[LI] network connection not working

hi all,
there is a linux 5.2 machine in my lab. its net connection is not working
the message given is ==>"NO ROUTE TO HOST".  what is the problem?
i think it has a network card. but how to make sure without opening up the compu?
i have entered proper host name , domain name etc.
please help me out.
