see the file /var/log/messages and search for the "eth0" or "the alias of
the ethernet card".
There u will be able to find if it is full/half duplex.
also see the "dmesg" command .. search for the alias of your network
interface.

we have a 100mbs tulip card on linux. Is there any way of checking whether
the card is working at half duplex or full duplex. what is the default
mode when a card is installed? this card is installed as a module in the
kernel.
