Large Harddisk Compatibility

Guys

I am buying IBM Deskstar 13 Gb 7200rpm HDD... but before doing so I wanted to clarify something about its support under linux. This harddisk will have more than 1024 cylinders. Lets say 1331 cylinders. I have heard things like you have to install linux in the first 1024 cylinders because it doesnt go beyond it. is that true? can i have further clarifications regarding this topic? If this is true... whats the way to get around it ?
