Re: Network problem



did you try to check the following ( as su)
a)  ps aux | grep inted
b) if above is running, I hope you started inetd in a real mode and not a
loopback mode
c) when ever you try to do n/w first thing is try to do a telnet to the
local machine
telnet localhost
d) if this works then check the status of the inetd
e) also check whether the network card is up
let me know if the above works
also when you start ping <some system> use  tcpdump(1) in another screen to
see what is the output
Let me know what the output is
