How to troubleshoot SCSI disc problems

Hi,
My Linux RH 5.2 server has 2GB SCSI fixed disks (in fact 2, sda and sdb)
All of a sudden once our UPS failed to support and the machine collapsed.
Since then even after complete reinstalltion the drive collapses after a
continuous run for 2 hours. Of the two one is not at all recognisable by
the boot process. Ultimately the second had to be disconnected. Can
anybody suggest the damage occured to the drives and possible revival
tips.
