kppp overwrites my /etc/hosts

Hello all
After upgrading to RHL 6.0 i have been facing a queer problem. Everytime i
connect to the net thru' kpp my /etc/hosts gets overwritten with
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX pppconnection
where XXX denote the dynamically assigned ip. this creates problems as the
localhost entry gets overwritten! Can i make my /etc/hosts read only?
