GNOME in RH 6.0 of CHIP Special

 I have installed RH 6.0 from CHIP Special CD. In Gnome, terminal after
second boot doesn't show prompt and doesn't accept any chars. Any body
faced it.
 Kppp I could not run as modem could not create lock file.
