postgres

Hi all,
I have loaded postgres from rh RPM.
I am able start psql with user postgres and work on data base.
But when I start postmaster then I get 
shared memory  and IPC error.
The faq says IPC should be enabled in kernel, But I checked, it is
enable.
Can any one help?
