The pricing of cpu is not that easy. The price of new cpu is higher
because there are lots of rejection in the initial stage. As the
rejection are minimized the price of cpu is brought down.
The rejection also includes ( along with so many other parameters ) the
clock speed.
The assembly line is same for all types of IC but the die differs.
Again I repeat , Over clocking will increase amount of heat generated in
core of cpu which would lead to premature failure of cpu.
