Hi manas.

.bash_profile is executed only once and that is when u login. Here u set up env settings like path, ld_lib path etc etc. provided bash is ur login shell.

.bashrc is executed everytime u startup bash ($ bash or $ exec bash) place where u put ur bash aliases 


sorry if this has already been answered, i am at a +4.0hr offset from india right now.



BTW has anyone tried runnng X on a Creative Exxtrem AGP card ? and what modem would u recommend that i get for my linux dubba. (i need the modem to work both in linux and 98).

Hi,

Now that this issue has been taken up, I always wanted to know why there
are 2 files while one can do?
