Hi  Srinath ,
              I  think  the  problem  here  is  not  with  the  hardware
.  It
 may  be  with  the  way  your  modem and  phone  are  connected . Any  
 additional  devices  like  modems  should  be  connected  in  parallel
 with  the  phone  line .  This  may  be  the problem .  Call  Your 
 telephone  guy  for assistance . Hope  it  helps.
