LaTeX is a front end to TEX . It is a typesetting software and is capable
of things beyond capabilities of word processors. It is NOT wyswyg. It
certainly takes some learning. But then it is very fast and you are not
required to look at screen and physically position things. It is command
oriented. Lot less eye strain!
Now I am used to LaTeX and would not want to go back to screen oriented
word processors.
